The firm is active in the growing field of banking and financial institutions law, representing a broad range of clients in this area including several of Israel's leading banks, its largest insurance companies, investment houses and financial institutions. We have represented the State of Israel in all of the stages of the privatization of Bank Leumi and Israel Discount Bank -- transactions that were valued at $500 million and $300 million, respectively -- including preparation of the legal and business model for the transactions, drafting of the tender documents, and execution of the transactions.
FBC has also been active in acquisition and disposition transactions involving banks, provident funds and insurance companies, private and public issuances by companies that are subject to banking and insurance regulations, as well as in complex financings and lending transactions. Our practice in this field continues to grow as a result of recent changes in applicable laws and regulations in Israel requiring banks to dispose of their holdings in provident and pension funds. As an additional aspect of this practice area, FBC represents banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions before a variety of regulatory agencies, including the Bank of Israel, the Commissioner of Banks, the Israel Securities Authority and the Commissioner of Insurance.
