Implementation of the ETA-IL System for Obtaining a Digital Entry Approval for Foreign Visitors from Visa-Exempt Countries
Starting from August 1, 2024, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL) system will be fully operational. This system is intended for foreign visitors from countries whose citizens are exempt from the need for an entry visa to Israel, wishing to visit Israel for tourism, business and short-term visits of up to 90 days.
Citizens of these countries (such as the United States, Western Europe, etc. – see details on visa-exempt countries here) are required to submit an application up to 72 hours before entering Israel on the Population and Immigration Authority’s website. The approval is valid for two years or until the expiration of the passport with which the application was submitted and allows entry to Israel for a period of up to 90 days per visit.
Foreign visitors who do not submit an appropriate application before entering Israel may encounter difficulties upon entry. Therefore, it is recommended to inform foreign visitors in advance about the need to submit the application.
It is clarified that the system is not intended for foreign citizens holding other visas to Israel, such as work visas, student visas, etc.
